Photography Safari
Photography plan:
I intend to take some of my photographs at school and others at home, the different environments will allow me to find a variety of shapes and textures. I will use my DSLR camera and use mainly close-ups and low camera angles to capture the images from different viewpoints. When complete I will aim to evaluate my most successful and least successful from each of the two shoots. This is so that I can gain a more in depth understanding of what makes a 'good’ image. |
Gallery of images:
Photographs taken at both school and home.
Evaluation of images:
I would say the photograph on the left is my most successful from the shoot and the second photograph is the least successful. The subject matter in the first photo are the bars on a school staircase and the second photo is of the ceiling in a classroom.
I took the first photograph at a low vantage point and the second also low but this time, looking up.
I think my teacher set this task to make us more aware of our surroundings and make us look closely to pick out shapes and use different vantage points. This is a key skill for any photographer.
I think the picture on the left was my most successful because of the light capturing the bars (this is called shadows, highlights and lowlights) and outlining the shape I was trying to capture. You can clearly see strong leading lines on this image as the eye is drawn towards the bottom right of the image.
The picture on the right is the poorest because of the dullness and lack of natural light, I feel this image is underexposed. To improve this photograph, I could change the camera position to make the shape more central and adjust my camera settings to allow in more light.
